Mr. Lanier attended the College of William and Mary earning a BBA with honors (Beta Gamma Sigma) from the College’s Mason School of Business, while also undertaking lesser concentrations in Economics, Classic Studies, and Writing.
Mr. Lanier earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1989. While attending law school, Mr. Lanier drafted an appendix to Prof. Michael P. Dooley’s Fundamentals of Corporation Law textbook, interned with the Internal Revenue Service in the Chicago Bureau, and during his third-year was clerked for the Honorable Herbert A. Pickford III of the Circuit Court for the City of Charlottesville.
Following law school, Mr. Lanier served as Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Samuel W. Coleman III of The Court of Appeals of Virginia, before entering private practice in 1990.
Mr. Lanier brings with him a broad background of experience in many areas of both civil and criminal litigation, having previously practiced as a private attorney, in association with other firms and under his own name, as well as in-house corporate counsel to an information technology company. Practice areas in which Mr. Lanier is experienced include: all manner of Civil Litigation; Contracting and Commercial transactions; Domestic Relations matters; Criminal charges and Traffic infractions; Landlord-Tenant disputes and Commercial Lease issues; Debtor/Creditor collections; basic Wills and Estate Planning; Immigration and Employment matters; as well as Personal Injury actions.
From this broader background, Mr. Lanier has chosen to concentrate his practice going forward in the area of tort and personal injury litigation here with the Law Offices of Jeremy Flachs. Whether by negotiation and agreement, or by litigation if necessary, Mr. Lanier combines a thorough and focused style, with a commitment to client service, and an extensive knowledge of the law, to serve his clients’ interests.
For over 30 years Mr. Lanier has both lived, and practiced, throughout the extended Northern Virginia area, having appeared in Courts from the City of Alexandria west to Fauquier County, and from Loudoun County south to Spotsylvania County.
